Join author and San Francisco historian Charles A. Fracchia for a presentation about his latest book When the Water Came Up to Montgomery Street, San Francisco During the Gold Rus. According to Mr. Fracchia, the events surrounding the Gold Rush have guided and shaped San Francisco into the famed tolerant and inclusive city it is today.
Mr. Fracchia is one of the founders of Rolling Stone Magazine and the author of three books on the history of San Francisco. He lectures extensively throughout the San Francisco Bay Area on various aspects of the city's history, and teaches at City College of San Francisco and at the University of San Francisco. . Mr. Fracchia founded the San Francisco Historical Society in 1988 (which merged with the Museum of the City of San Francisco in 2002), and is the president emeritus of the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society.
